About My Journey
I’m a country girl, and during my youth I raised, broke, and trained horses. After I met, fell in love, and got married, my husband and I found land away from town to raise our future family, a son and a daughter. Besides our awesome children, we also raised horses and all kinds of poultry and livestock, including donkeys. My children are grown now with happy homes of their own, and the hero of my happily-ever-after story has since passed away. Change is hard, and widowhood is not for sissies. But because of a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus, I can write firsthand about sacrifice, love, romance, bravery, and perseverance. Shortly after my husband’s death, I was reminded of the scripture Jeremiah 29:11: "I know the plans I have you, declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Amen. www.janwarrenbooks.com
Storytelling History
My need to create stories was handed down from my dad, who had it handed down from his Cherokee father and Scots-Irish mother. My dad, a country boy growing up during the depression, joined the army as a teen and ended up a Japanese POW during WWII. He told endless stories of how he survived 3 death marches and those 3 ½ years as a Prisoner of War only by prayer and thinking out of the box. He also instilled a strong legacy of honor for God, family, and country in his children and grandchildren. As a result, I strive for my characters to embrace those same traits.
